Alnwick
Aydon house is a short walk from Alnwick town centre and all it has to offer. Alnwick has many pubs, cafés and restaurants and a wide range of shops; independent and high street names.
The Duke of Northumberland and his family live in Alnwick Castle, which has starred in some of the Harry Potter films, and in Downton Abbey. The castle is surrounded by 1250 hectares of landscaped meadows, designed by Capability Brown, a Northumbrian by birth. The castle has a full program of events for all the family. Hulne Park, a one time hunting ground for the Percy family, has many popular walking routes.
The famous Alnwick Garden is also nearby, a contemporary garden with lots to see, including the world's largest treehouse and the chilling Poison Garden
Alnwick also boasts a fine Theatre, the Playhouse, as well as Bailiffgate Museum, the picturesque Alnwick Castle Golf Club, and the renowned Barter Books, one of the largest second hand book shops in Britain.
Northumberland
England's northern most county is also the least populated. Its position on the border defines its history as a frontier and has more castles than any other county in England. This together with a stunning coastline, breath taking countryside, including Northumberland National Park and diverse wildlife makes it a great location for a holiday.
Countryside

Northumberland has some beautiful scenery. If walking is your thing, there is everything from a stroll round the lakes at Cragside, along riverbanks or old railway lines to the more challenging Hadrian's Wall or The Cheviots.
Seaside

Northumberland has a stunning coastline, much of it classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From traditional seaside towns like Seahouses to sandy beaches and hidden bays. Great for walking, cycling and sports, and you may even spot a castle.
Wildlife

Puffins, seals, deer, even red squirrels - there is an abundance of wildlife here and many opportunities to see them. Boat trips to the Farne Islands to see sea birds, seals and dolphins if you strike lucky, and on a woodland walk you may see red squirrels, deer and a huge variety of other birdlife.
